Tagged

First tagged by Lucy, now by Nancy...so here we go....*L*

My roommate and I once: I have never had a roommate!

Never in my life have I:

High school was : VERY Cliquish...if you weren't a 4th generation farmer in the town or if you weren't a sports freak then you were nobody! So I was pretty much this skinny little geeky nobody *L*

When I'm nervous : I bite my lip, fidget

My hair : Is quickly becoming more and more grey and in desperate need of a styling!

When I was 5 : I was in the first grade. I was the youngest kid in my class, and I thought it was kinda cool. I also got glasses.

When I turn my head left : It hurts my neck

I should be : Getting in the shower so my hair will dry before bedtime!

By this time next year : Things will probably be about the same as they are now.

My favorite aunt is : Aunt Darlene!!

I have a hard time understanding : A lot of things and people. Why they do some of the stupid senseless things they do!

You know I like you if : I want to hang around with you

My ideal breakfast is : Something I don't have to cook! *L* Naw, actually I think breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day. I could skip dinner easily, but I love breakfast. Sometimes just a muffin or bagel, or even cereal or Chream of Wheat or oatmeal *L* Sometimes I want the works..pancakes, eggs, sausage or bacon, hash browns, toast.....

If you visit my home town : You would find out there isn't much to do! It is a very very small town! With not many businesses left.

If you spend the night at my house : You better like animals!!!

My favorite blonde is : Kayden

My favorite brunette is : Jim

The animal I would like to see flying besides birds : Ummmm none!

I shouldn't have been : Up so late last night

Last night I: was online catching up some in the TTS gallery and posting a digi LO. I also watched the late news and half of Leno before bed. (which is why I was up so late...I am getting too old to stay up until midnight every night!!)

A better name for me would be : You know, it took me a lot of years before I even liked my name, and now that I do I think it is a good one.

I've been told I look like : my mom!! (and I do! We almost look like sisters *L*)

If I could have any car, it would be : a truck. Right on Nancy!!

Drained

Besides being almost THAT time...ugggg you gotta love having all the menopause symptoms..the wonderful hot flashes and night sweats, and day sweats *L* along with still having to put up with the monthly cramps and BS. Sometimes Mother Nature is NOT a nice lady!!

I went for a short time to a viewing for the husband of one of my customers last night. Thank goodness Jim took me, because I never would have found it! This is the customer I had a problem with a couple months back and ended up quitting there after working for them for 7 years. It was hard to quit because she was such a nice lady and I loved her to death! She was like a grandma to me kinda. I loved talking with her and her telling me the old stories from when she was a kid. And until the problem we had with him, I usually enjoyed him also (yeah there were a few times he would get grumpy and stuff..but I just chalked it up to old age). After I left, within a few weeks he had a heart attack, followed by a massive heart attack and a stroke. Then he ended up having to go into a nursing home. I didn't know any of this until his SIL called me to let me know he had passed away. It all happened so fast and after being with him for over 60 years she is now lost. But even she told me she had no idea how sick he really was, when I had to quit. I was worried he was getting dementia bad enough that he might become violent and it turns out he did just that after I left, and he went downhill so so fast!
You just never know. And dementia does not do good things to a persons mind. It is sad to see someone lose themselves like that.
Last night was filled with so much emotion for me. I have become so close to some of my customers that they are almost more like family than customers.

Before he got so sick, he reminded me of Santa Claus and she reminded me of Mrs. Claus *L* and there were times when I was cleaning that they would just sit in the loveseat holding hands while they watched tv. I always thought that was so sweet. So today I want to remember those times and the times when we would joke around and tease each other.
And I would like to pay tribute to him today, his services are today and he is getting a military funeral. He was a World War II vet and was at the Battle of the Bulge. So John Mills..here is to you today! May you rest in peace!!

Fun stuff!!

If you missed the Birthday Crop at TTS this weekend you missed a lot of fun!!! Wow, there were some great Make & Takes...like the Wonder Bread album!! If you want to know more about this you can still go check it out, along with the other Make & Takes...cards, beads and more..by going to TTS site and looking at our Birthday Crop thread! The instructions have been posted!!
I wasn't able to make it to the Make & Takes because I was busy researching our Guest DT apps and getting more info on our DT. Why? Because the 'How Well Do You Know Your DT' Trivia chat I had Friday night was such a huge hit that they requested MORE!! *L* If you missed that, then you definately missed some fun chats and trivia!!
I did get 1 LO done, and am still working on more of the challenges posted! But for now, here is the one I got done. I issued a challenge to use this ad as inspiration for a page.

AD......

And my page...

(I'm not overly thrilled with it, so I am going to be doing some adjustments and redoing it in the future *L*)

Wow! I am shocked! *warning political view expressed here*

The self-proclaimed hard-core Bush supporter Ann Coulter has finally come to her senses!! She has finally opened her eyes to what Bush is doing to our country where illegal immigration is concerned.
I too was once a Bush supporter. I thought he handled things amazingly well after 9/11. But something has happened along the way and he has become a self-rightous 'do as I say or else' bully. I am so sick of him kissing the Mexican governments ass, that I could puke! I am so sick of him and his croonies thinking they can do whatever they want, however they want, whenever they want and not have to account for any of it to the American people!!

With that being said..here is Ann Coulter's article!! WTG Ann, it is about time you opened your eyes and saw the truth staring you in the face!!

Now before you go getting your panties all in a bunch how about reading this also...

There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools,
no special ballots for elections, all government business
will be conducted in our language.

Foreigners will NOT have the right to vote no matter how
long they are here.

Foreigners will NEVER be able to hold political office.

Foreigners will not be a burden to the taxpayers. No
welfare, no food stamps, no health care, or other
government assistance programs.

Foreigners can invest in this country, but it must be an
amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.

If foreigners do come and want to buy land that will be
okay, BUT options will be restricted. You are not allowed
waterfront property. That is reserved for citizens naturally
born into this country.

Foreigners may not protest; no demonstrations, no waving
a foreign flag, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our
president or his policies, if you do you will be sent home.

If you do come to this country illegally, you will be hunted
down and sent straight to jail.

Harsh, you say?................

The above laws happen to be the immigration laws of..........

How addicted are YOU???

You Are 45% Addicted to the Internet

You're somewhat addicted to the internet - but who isn't?
You can keep it under check, and you're by no means a hermit.

Well that wasn't too bad. Not compared to some of my buddies! hehehe

Some other fun stuff I got today....
YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
English

And a local news story....Ok I am all for people who want to come here LEGALLY and get citizenship. But this is just so wrong on so many levels!! This poor woman 'thought' she was a citizen..she has been living a good life, trying to do good thing, raising a family and SHE might get deported? That is just WRONG!!! Once you read the story you will see why I feel this way, and feel she should be given a chance to get her citizenship. They will possibly deport her when they ignore drug runners, murders and other violent offenders??? GIVE ME A FLIPPIN BREAK!!
Zoila Meyer faces deportation, fights to stay in U.S.

A Day in the Life

of me *L* Ok so maybe not a standard day, but close enough. Had work this morning, and wouldn't you know it...at this house of course I expect it. A note with a list of extra things to do. So at this point of trying to explain this to them several times...you can not do more work in the normal amount of time I am there..more done = more time....so today I skipped some things. Someday someone will get the picture...maybe! I dunno...sometimes I think the more schooling and degrees you have the less common sense you have..at least for some people.
After work I ate on the run..yeah I know..bad girl..but I had barely enough time to get to my PT appt. That went well, I am really feeling better! Even my neck is better now. Got that done and felt so relaxed that I went home and laid down. Got a little bit of a nap.
But I was a little frustrated at the office. I have talked with the dr before about my wieght and he said I need to exercise more and walking would be good. So Jim and I have been walking. So today he tells me I am doing good but I need to increase my activity level. Hello?? I work 3 to 6 hours a day cleaning people's houses, I come home and do work around my own house, yes I take a nap because I don't sleep well at night..but then I get up go out and do yard work after dinner and we usually walk at night. I am wondering where in this picture do I fit in MORE activity? When do I get my down time? I mean even when I have a day off I do work..outside and in the house. And I don't mean just piddly little things, I mean work....digging, hoeing, shampooing my carpet, walls, ceiling fans....You know I could understand my weight if I sat on ym ass all day and ate. But I don't. I am not much of a snacker. I try to keep sweets out of the house. I mean come on, even my MIL when she was here told me I need to sit down and relax sometimes because she said I am always on the move! I don't understand. Yeah I am sick of being this size, but at this point what else do I do?
Ok my rant is over....if you read this then you can have one of Robin's fresh brownies! *L*

Jobs

So Nancy challenged us today to tell a story about our first job. Since it feels like I have been working since I was a kid *L* I'm not sure if I should start with my first job of babysitting...but since I did that starting at about 11 yrs old I don't really think that is what she is looking for.
My first 'real' job was the year I started HS, I was 13 that summer. We had just moved and I would be going to a new school and meeting new people. Now you have to remember this was a town of 200 people *L* So everyone knew everyone and half of them..if not more...were related to each other! I got a job working at the local cafe during wheat harvest. When you worked at the mom and pop business you did it all. You waited tables, washed dishes and you were the cashier. I don't remember a lot about that first summer except I dated the bosses son...who turned out to be my ex many many years down the road. And that we were swamped!! I worked so many hours that summer!! With all the harvesters in town we were busy from sun up to sun down. Seriously...we would get orders in the afternoon, when one of the truck drivers would come in to unload the wheat, and he would order 35 hamburgers for the crew to take out...and this wouldn't happen just once, because we had several crews working the farms in the area, so this was going on for a couple hours over lunch time. The guys would all come in and have breakfast before they went out and they would come in and have a big meal for supper.I got SO sick of the smell of food that even though I was barely 95 lbs soaking wet, I lost weight because I couldn't stand to eat anything since I was smelling it all day. I went on to work for them every summer and fall during the various wheat harvest, and since it was the family business my kids started working there also from the time they were old enough to talk. I eventually started doing the grill cooking and even worked in the service station pumping gas...yes this was back in the days of full service service stations..and doing small things like changing bulbs and replacing fuses in vehicles, checking fluid levels, cross-referencing parts, etc. I never learned how to run the tire machine to fix flats..no thank you! *L* Didn't want any part in that job. I worked at that job off and on for over 25 years!

This N That

Kinda like In N Out...*L* For you non Cal. residents that is one of the BEST burger joints out here. If you ever get to visit you GOTTA go there! Take it from me and my family who has come to visit us and that is one of the first places they want to go every time. *L*

Ok anyway, on to bloggy stuff. Nancy issued this fun challenge today at TTS.

What Muppet are you?
You Are Animal

A complete lunatic, you're operating on 100% animal instincts.
You thrive on uncontrolled energy, and you're downright scary.
But you sure can beat a good drum.
"Kill! Kill!"

I gotta share with you guys a GREAT new candle site! I have a couple of these candles and the smell is incredible!!! I have been burning my Sweet Pea one all day and it has barely burned down. Kimball's Candles They are a new company, but I see big things in store for them. An FYI...the Pecan Carmael Swirl is TO DIE FOR! Ohhhh yummmmmmmmmmmm!! And for those beer drinkers in your life they even have a beer candle! It is so cool looking! *L* Jim doesn't even drink beer, but he thought they were so cool he HAD to have one!

I was a busy girl this weekend and got several pages done (I used a lot of paper by Adorn It. They are our sponsors at TTS this month! Woohooo! So for your veiwing pleasure....

Challenges

I have been a very bad girl about keeping up with them lately :(
So today I am going to kill 2 birds with 1 stone! *L*

Teri Lynn issued a challenge to us today to describe what would be our Perfect day. Just a normal day, not anything fancy smancy. My perfect day would be a quiet one. NO work, none nada zip zero!! A day with no pain, absolutely zero! I wouldn't have to cook any meals, no housework...ok maybe a little yard work because I love working in my yard. If I can dream a little...having a maid for that day would be awesome! *L* Temps in the 70's, no wind except for a slight breeze. And scrap...just be able to lock myself in my room and spend the whole day doing nothing but scrapping. Oh and sleeping in, sleeping in and cuddling with Jim before we get out of bed. Now that would be my perfect day. Can it last ohhhh about 100 hours?? *L*

And since I missed it yesterday because it was a long day at work and I was simply worn out....Nancy's challenge was to list 12 things I have to be happy about today.

1. That I am married to a wonderful man and I am thankful for that everyday!

2. My grandkids are all happy and healthy.

3. Family stuff has worked itself out for the most part and I have a great relationship with my stepkids now!

4. I have a job, that even though I am not terribly fond of, it is still a job and that is better than some have.

5. I have good friends where I live and online that I love dearly!

6. My garden is looking pretty good!!

7. My yard is really shapping up. It will always be a work in progress but it looks better all the time.

8. Our neighbor who dug up some of his strawberry plants and brought some to us, so I can start a strawberry bed.

9. Even though the accident has left me with some pain, I am relieved it wasn't worse than it was, because I keep reading stories in the newspaper about the same type of accident we were in, only the person hit didn't survive. So I thank God that we are still here and it wasn't worse than it was! (at least 5 accidents have been in the paper in the last 2 mo just like the one we were in, where the person didn't survive)

10. It looks like my daughter's worker's comp may go through for her! I am so happy about that because it has been a struggle for her!

11. Gas prices have started going down a little!!! wooohooo!! *L*

12. It's hump day!! The weekend is almost here and the next 2 work days are easier ones!

What story

does your family laugh at over and over and LOVE to tell on you?

My dad gets great delight in telling about how I had a bout of extremely bad breath when I was about 2. *LOL* He said it was so bad no one could stand to be around me. They finally took me to the dr because they didn't know what was wrong. When the dr looked up my nose he found........foam! *L* I had a stuffed toy that I slept with and it seems I managed to get a spot worn and pull out some of the foam stuff inside and shoved it up my nose.

So what is your story? Share it on your blog and send me the link!

I had to share another story with Nancy (at TTS) about the time I gave my baby bro a goose-egg in the middle of his forehead between the eyes also! *L* Man I thought I had killed him! I was scared to death! We were playing baseball and I had a bad habit of swinging and throwing the bat back when I had a hit...well he was catching and I didn't know he had come up behind me so close and I nailed him dead center between the eyes. He went down like a rock and he got the goose-egg IMMEDIATELY! All blakc and blue and swollen and he wasn't moving much...I was this skinny little thing about 9 yrs old and he was a husky kid *L* my younger brother just stood there and stared at us and I was screaming at him to open the door as I picked up my baby brother and ran for the house. My younger brother never moved! OMG I don't know when I ever prayed so hard! I made all kinds of deals with God if he would just let my brother live, I just knew I had killed him! I wonder if mom has any pics of him sporting that goose-egg? hmmmmm *L* And no thats not my family story either..but I had to share after reading yours! *L*

Well, belive it or not, I have actually scrapped some this week! Even though my blog hasn't shown any signs of it. So here for your viewing pleasure.....

Tuesday, June 5, 2007

The only really disappointing thing was saying goodbye to family. Because who knows when we will see them again. With the gas prices climbing like they are travel is going to become a luxery. :(

What were my accomplishments this month?
I won Best Of Show at the fair!!! Seeing 4 of the 6 grandkids and getting to send several days with Jon, Kayden and mom and dad and seeing family I haven't seen for a couple years!

Anything else noteworthy to record?
I'm sure there is but I am not recalling it right now! *L*
